A native of Illinois, Mary fell in love with the environment when she was a teenager. Inspired by a high school biology teacher, Mary developed a deep passion for environmental conservation and protection. This resolve stuck with her through college, leading her to get her BS in Environmental Biology from Eastern Illinois University. After college she began a decades-long career leading environmental compliance and management programs for the U.S. Army and Fort Carson, CO. Mary led one of the first military installation sustainability programs, involved local community leaders and individuals in developing a regional sustainability framework, and helped to establish the nonprofit Peak Alliance for a Sustainable Future. Mary is happy spending her days keeping the Pikes Peak region an amazing place to visit, live, work and play for current and future generations.
